Removing Stains from Cooking PotsModern alloy metals and ceramic compounds are widely used in the manufacturing of non-stick cookware. More recent versions of the cooking pot are also easier to clean as they are able to cook without the use of too much oil. Having said this, nearly all cookware or cooking pots will accumulate certain stains and residue, despite best cleaning efforts on behalf of their owners.

Removing stains and residue from the inside of cooking pots:

  • Remove any large bits of residue by hand, though this is only optional; Pour about three or so centimetres of fresh water in the pot; mix the water thoroughly with two tablespoons of dishwashing liquid; bring the solution to the boil; it is best to put the lid on while boiling the concoction so that all the fumes are retained inside for better cleaning results.

  • Boil for about five or so minutes then take the pot off the stove and pour out the mixture; most of the staining and residue should have been loosened up by the hot fumes; if there is anything left remove by hand using a flexible scraper.

This particular cleaning method is perfectly suitable for all types of cookware either metal, ceramic or composite material.

Removing Stains from Cooking PotsStains and residue on the outside of cookware can be just as stubborn to remove. Though, this should be no problem if one uses the correct cleaning methods.

  • Submerge the pot in hot, soapy water for about an hour. If you don’t have enough space in the kitchen sink, do this in the bath tub as it will be just as effective.

  • In the meantime, mix the cleaning paste which consists of powdered cleaning solvent (commonly found in the cleaning section of all supermarkets) and water. The ingredient ratio should be two to one in favour of the powdered cleaner.

  • In an hour’s time the pot should be sufficiently soaked; remove it from the water solution without drying it.

  • Begin rubbing the scouring past you made using a moderately abrasive or nonabrasive sponge or cloth. Usually, most cookware will be able to withstand this level of cleaning aggression without sustaining scratches.

  • Once you have treated the entire surface, or all the stains, don’t wait for the past to dry but rinse the pot thoroughly under hot water.

This cleaning method is not recommended for ceramic cookware.
